ALTO GALLERY

Alto Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery owned and operated by Denver-based 501(c)(3) non-profit Birdseed Collective. Alto opened in February 2016 in the Tennyson/Berkley neighborhood of Denver. After five years in our original space, Alto Gallery moved to the RiNo Art Park in October 2021.

Through this space, we offer mainly local emerging and established artists opportunities to exhibit their work. Our programming consists of monthly exhibitions with receptions that are free and open to the public. Additionally, we offer free artist talks, demonstrations, creative workshops, and performances throughout the year.

The vast majority of artists we work with are Denver-based, and many are BILPOC and underrepresented in the art world. We occasionally invite national and international artists to exhibit with us, but our main aim is to showcase and support the local creative ecosystem. Our gallery specializes in mostly working with emerging artists of diverse styles, media, and backgrounds. Offering our space allows us to help build their careers and creative resumes. Working with our parent organization Birdseed Collective, we also offer our space to student and community shows, giving many young/new artists their first experience showing art. We seek to foster long-term working relationships with artists, often developing artists from group shows to solo shows.

Our critically-lauded gallery has enriched Denver's cultural landscape by providing over a hundred exhibitions that are free and open to the public, plus numerous free artist talks, demonstrations, workshops, and performances. These exhibitions have offered hundreds of emerging artists economic opportunities, connections to a wider community, professional development, and have played a valuable roles in their creative development.

Partnered with RedLine Contemporary Art Center and their satellite studio program (now transitioned to CAST Colorado), Alto Gallery has enjoyed sharing space with a vibrant and diverse studio community, innovative and educational program partners, and beautiful public outdoor spaces. After nearly five successful years at the Art Park, though, Alto Gallery will be moving to a new location nearby at 3773 Walnut St in July 2026. The new space offers a more open wall and floor plan, better street views, and closer proximity to many restaurants, bars, shops, and music venues. It's a new and exciting chapter full of changes, but Alto Gallery is dedicated to continuing our mission, programming, and support of the Denver artist community.
