7th Annual 100+ at Sports Castle

After weeks of planning and preparation, BirdSeed Collective's 7th Annual "100+" group art show and fundraiser finally kicked off Saturday July 22 at the mammoth Sports Castle on Broadway. Boasting over a hundred artists and 300+ pieces of work, 6 bands and 3 DJ's, interactive exhibits, vendor tables, and homemade tacos, it was the biggest event at the biggest venue the Denver non-profit has put on to date. The one-night open-call, open-themed show draws a wide range of artists. For this show only, BirdSeed takes no cut - 100% of art sales go directly to artists. New Victor Escobedo Mural at Vivax Pros

Longtime BirdSeed member and artist Victor Escobedo recently wrapped up a Colorado-inspired mural project for Denver-based painting company Vivax Pros. Designed in Victor's strong, illustrative style, the mural depicts Colorado state flora and fauna symbols: state flower Rocky Mt. Columbine, state reptile Western Painted Turtle, state amphibian Western Tiger Salamander, state fish Greenback Cutthroat Trout, and state animal Rocky Mt. Bighorn Sheep. BirdSeed's own Anthony Garcia, Sr. supplied aquamarine-colored geometric backgrounds. New Tom Bond mural at Westend

Artist Tom Bond recently wrapped up a mural project for Woody Creek Distillers and West End Tap House on the back wall in West End's backyard patio area. Clean, contemporary aesthetics marked by dynamic geometry, a limited color palette, and efficient design details all come together to tell the visual story of how whiskey is made. Aside from painting murals, though,Tom is a mixed media artist, graphic designer, wood craftsman, and avid traveler. He also owns and operates an artist studio space in south Denver called Camp Kalamath.
